Privacy policy

Search From Social ("we") turns a business's own social videos into articles for that business's website, and shows the business how those pages do in Google. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and how to delete it. Questions: hello@searchfromsocial.com.
What we collect
- Your account: your name, email address, a hashed password, and your business details and answers you enter in setup.
- From Instagram, when you click Connect Instagram (permission
instagram_business_basic): your professional account's ID and username, and your posts, Reels and Stories, including their captions, media files, links and dates. We only read; we never post, comment or message on your behalf. - From Google, when you click Connect Google Search Console (scope
webmasters.readonly, plus your Google account's email address): the list of Search Console properties you can see, and search performance data for the property you choose: pages, search queries, clicks, impressions, click-through rate and average position. We only read; we never change your Search Console settings. - Billing: handled by Stripe. We keep your Stripe customer and subscription IDs and subscription status. We never see or store your card number.
- Technical: a session cookie that keeps you logged in, and server logs of requests (kept by our hosting provider for a short period).
How we use it
- To transcribe your videos, decide which are worth an article, write articles in your business's voice, and check them against the facts you gave us.
- To publish articles to your website where you've set that up, or hold them for your approval.
- To choose topics and decide whether to add to an existing page or write a new one, using your Search Console data.
- To show you, in your dashboard, every page we made and how each one performs in Google.
- To run your account: logins, billing, and support.
We don't sell your data, use it for advertising, or use it to build profiles of people. We don't use your data to train AI models, and our AI providers don't use data sent through their business APIs to train theirs.
Google user data
Search From Social's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use Search Console data only to provide the features described above to the business that connected it. People don't read it except with your permission (for example, to help with a support request), for security, or where the law requires.
Who we share it with
Only service providers that process data for us to run the service:
- Anthropic (Claude) writes and checks articles from your video transcripts and captions.
- OpenAI transcribes what's said in your videos.
- Vercel hosts the app, and Neon stores its database.
- GitHub stores the content engine's working data and, where your website lives on GitHub, receives the article changes.
- Stripe handles payments.
We also share information if the law requires it, or to protect people's safety or our rights.
How we protect it
Connection tokens for Instagram and Google are encrypted before they're stored (AES-256-GCM). Passwords are stored as one-way hashes. Data moves over HTTPS. Access to production systems is limited to the people who run the service.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is active. When you disconnect Instagram or Google we delete that connection's tokens right away and stop reading from it (for Google we also revoke the access). If you close your account or ask us to delete your data, we delete your account, connections, transcripts and stored content within 30 days. Articles already published on your own website stay there; they're yours.
Your choices
- Disconnect Instagram or Google any time under Setup → Give us access, or remove our app in your Google account or in Instagram (Settings → Website permissions → Apps and websites).
- Ask for a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion: email hello@searchfromsocial.com. See how to delete your data.
Children
The service is for businesses and isn't directed to children under 16.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and tell account holders by email or in the app before the change applies.
